Gather supplies. Here is a helpful list 

• Books. More books than you can accomodate. Go to libraries, book sales, yard sales. Let the kids bring any book they want into the house, short of pornography. Even ‘Garfield’.
• Food. Fill the pantry with odd things and cook. You have to eat anyway, make the meal the ‘lesson’. There’s math, history, science and dinner in that exercise.
• Art supplies. Anything and everything. Whatever they want. Make giant artsy messes, every day.
• Cleaning supplies. Because food and art.
