I find that reading a fun book like Hank The Cow Dog gives me great leverage when I am trying to get the kids into bed. I can say "If you don't get your teeth brushed and get completely ready for bed in 5 minutes, there will be no Hank the Cow Dog tonight". That puts them into high gear!

ReplyDeleteI'm getting ready to read The Peculiar Miss Pickett to my kids; like you, I find that reading aloud is HUGE when it comes to leverage. One threat of 'no story' and it's instant behavior modification.
Are you making sure they are using at least 2 full minutes brushing all their teeth?
